EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 473ml for $16.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: Nothing alarming in this one, it looks pretty good.

Name: Acure Yummy Baby 4-in-1 Foamer Vanilla + Citrus Acure Yummy Baby 4-in-1 Foamer Vanilla + Citrus
Ingredients: Purified Water, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Decyl Glucoside, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Levulinate, Potassium Sorbate, Glycerin, Natural Flavor, Organic Coco Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Organic Cathamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber), Roman Anthemis Noblis (Chamomile) Flower, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sodium Phytate, Citric Acid, Xantham Gum.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 473ml for $16.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: The only thing I don’t like in this is the ‘natural flavour’. It’s another way of saying fragrance. Although this is a good company, and I like their products, I do try to avoid flavours and fragrances unless I know they’re from essential oils.

Name: Aromababy Baby Bath Gel Aromababy Baby Bath Gel
Ingredients: Purified Water, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Decyl Glucoside, Polysorbate (natural dispersant), Xanthan Gum (vegetable gum), Lavender Essential Oil* (Lavendula Angusti Folia), German Chamomile Essential Oil* (Matricaria Recutita), D-alpha Tocopherol (GMO free Natural Vitamin E), Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citrus Paradisi Extract), Hydroxymethylglycinate (protein derived preservative).
*Certified Organic by ACO and/or Soil Association
EWG Skin Deep Rating: 3 (Moderate Hazard)
Cost: 125ml for $12.95
Comments: This is a company that is touting themselves as ‘all natural’ and yet the second ingredient on the list is not natural. Cocoamidopropyl Betaine may be derived from coconuts, but it’s so heavily processed that it’s no longer natural. Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate isn’t natural. Aromababy claims that their products are ‘rich in certified organic, natural oils’ and yet the only organic ingredients in this are lavender and chamomile oils. Not exactly rich. It’s not a terrible product, but the company’s claims aren’t exactly correct.

Name: Aromababy Pure Baby Wash for Newborns Aromababy Pure Baby Wash for Newborns
Ingredients: Purified water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Polysorbate 20, Rosehip Oil, d-alpha tocopherol (GMO free natural Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum, Hydroxymethylglycinate (protein derived preservative), Citric Acid
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 150ml for $15.95
Comments: This doesn’t rate too high on the toxicity score, but again, it doesn’t quite match up to what Aromababy is saying about themselves. See my comments about the previous product.

Name: Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash
Ingredients: Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerine, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Acrylates Copolymer, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel flour, Sodium Benzoate, Styrene/acrylates copolymer, Mineral oil, Polyquaternium-7, Tetrasodium EDTA, PEG-45M, Benzaldehyde. May also contain sodium hydroxide, citric acid
EWG Skin Deep Rating: 2 (Low Hazard)
Cost: 236ml for $8.99
Comments: This is a great example of why it’s not enough just to look at the toxicity ratings. This contains PEG’s, which I definitely prefer to avoid, and sulfates. There’s cocamidopropyl betaine, there’s petrochemicals in here, and this company also tests on animals. The EWG toxicity rating may not be high, but there’s plenty of questionable ingredients, and I don’t like the ethics. I’d definitely be giving this one the swerve at the supermarket.

Name: Baby Organics Baby Bath Wash Baby Organics Baby Bath Wash

Comments: More great ingredients, from a great brand. Lots to like here!

Name: Billie Baby Body Wash  Billie Baby Body Wash
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Goat Milk (Caprae Lac), Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Coco-Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 240ml for $13.95
Comments: A pretty good ingredients list. Phenoxyethanol isn’t my favourite preservative, but nothing too scary in here.

Name: Billie Baby Cleansing Bar Billie Baby Cleansing Bar
Ingredients: Sodium Olivate, Goat Milk (Caprae Lac), Sodium Sweet Almondate, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Castorate, Sodium Grapeseedate, Tocopherol.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 2 x 50g bars for $9.95
Comments: Nice ingredients. Bar soap is a great choice, because it doesn’t require preservatives, and it lasts for ages. Plus it’s eco friendly – you’re not transporting water. This is a good choice.

Name: Bottomsup Natural Organic Baby Body Wash Bottomsup Natural Organic Baby Body Wash
Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine (From Coconuts), Glycerine, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate (From Coconuts), Decyl Glucoside (From Corn & Coconut), Lilly Pilly Extract, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Passiflora Incarnata Flower Extract, Pink Flannel Flower Essence, Organic Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Essential Oil, Organic Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 125ml for $13.50
Comments: I start to growl when I see ingredients lists like this. From coconuts? Yes, but so processed that it’s no longer natural. There’s nothing too scary in there (although I don’t like the phenoxyethanol or the cocoamidopropyl betaine, as usual), but it’s not certified organic (there are three organic ingredients) and it’s not even 100% natural.

Name: Buds Cherished Organics Happy Baby Head to Toe Cleanser Buds Cherished Organics Happy Baby Head to Toe Cleanser
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Coco Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Glycerin, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Carrageenan, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Parfum/Perfume, Citrus Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Oil*, Pelargonium (Geranium) Graveolens Oil*, Benzyl Alcohol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Phytic Acid
Parfum made from essentials oils
* Proceeding from Organic Farming
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $19.95
Comments: As ever, it’s the perfume in this that pushes the rating up. Babies don’t need perfumes! Also, the benzyl alchohol is not great – it’s a neurotoxin and possible allergen. It’s not terrible, but there are better choices out there.

Name: Buds Cherished Organics Precious Newborn Head to Toe Cleanser Buds Cherished Organics Precious Newborn Head to Toe Cleanser
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Disodium Cocoglucoside Tartrate, Coco Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Carrageenan, Glycerin, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Citrus Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Pelargonium (Geranium) Graveolens Oil*, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum/Perfume, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Phytic Acid
Parfum made from essentials oils
* Proceeding from Organic Farming
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $29.95
Comments: It’s the same problems as the newborn version of this – perfume and benzyl alcohol. And the price – ouch! There are better choices.

Name: Cherub Rubs Baby Safe Hair & Body Wash Cherub Rubs Baby Safe Hair & Body Wash
Ingredients: *Aloe Vera Juice, Decyl Glucoside, Rapeseed Acid, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, *Glycerine, Parfum, Xanthonomonas campestris (Xanthan Gum), *Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, *Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, *Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil, *Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, *Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil
*All Natural and contains certified organic oils.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $15.00
Comments: This is a decent list of ingredients, except for the perfume. It really shouldn’t be in a baby product, and I can’t recommend this because of that.

Name: Curash Baby Bath Wash Curash Baby Bath Wash
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Decyl Polyglucose, Disodium, Cocamphodiacetate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, PEG-7, Glycerol Cocoate, Cocoglucoside, Glycerol Oleate, PEG-15 Cocopolyamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Vera, Tetrasodium EDTA, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Polysorbate 20, Citric Acid, Fragrance, FD & C Blue No. 1
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 400ml for $7.70
Comments: Sulfates, PEG’s, fragrance, synthetic colours, diazolidinyl urea … there’s a lot to avoid in this one. Skip it!

Name: Dr Bronner’s 4 in 1 Sugar Baby Unscented Organic Pump Soap Dr Bronner's 4 in 1 Sugar Baby Unscented Organic Pump Soap

Comments: Love the Dr Bronner’s! Great ingredients, great products, great price. One of my top picks for baby soap.

EWG Skin Deep Rating: 1 (Low Hazard)
Cost: 140g for $7.95
Comments: Bar soap is a good choice. It’s eco friendly, there’s no preservatives required, and it lasts forever. And of course, Dr Bronner’s is one of my all time favourite brands!

Name: Ecostore Baby Body Wash Ecostore Baby Body Wash
Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Parfum, Lavandula Angustifolia, Eucalyptus Globulus, Pelargonium Graveolens
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 200ml for $10.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: Ecostore are signers of the Campaign for Safer Cosmetics, but they’re using a couple of questionable ingredients here. Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate is a formaldehyde releaser, and EWG recommends that you avoid it. Ecostore say that they are going to transition away from this. There’s also perfume in this one, but it’s from essential oils. It’s still a reasonable product, and I’d choose this one rather the Aveeno Baby one with a similar toxicity rating, for example.

Name: Ecostore Baby Soap Ecostore Baby Soap
Ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Aqua, Sodium Chloride, Lavandula Angustifolia, Glycerin, Triticum Vulgare Oil, Caprae Lac, CI 77891, Sodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium EDTA
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 80g for $2.99
Comments: Another good choice of bar soap.

Name: Gaia Skin Naturals Bath & Body Wash Gaia Skin Naturals Bath & Body Wash

EWG Skin Deep Rating: 3 (Moderate Hazard)
Cost: 250ml for $12.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: As above, I don’t like the phenoxyethanol, and the cocoamidopropyl betaine. There’s also sodium hydroxylmethylglycinate. These aren’t the worst products, and they’re certainly better than the standard supermarket brands, but they’re not my first choice.

Name: Gaia Skin Naturals Hair & Body Wash Gaia Skin Naturals Hair & Body Wash
Ingredients: Purified Water, Decyl Glucoside (Sugar), Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine (Coconut), Guar Gum, Vegetable Glycerine, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Certified Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Extract*, Certified Oat Kernel Extract, Lactic Acid, Certified Organic Chamomile Extract*, Certified Organic Avocado Oil*, Certified Organic Evening Primrose Oil*, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxyl Methyl Glycinate, The Pure Essential Oils Of Certified Organic Lavender*, Certified Organic Ylang Ylang*, Linalool
*Organic ingredients
EWG Skin Deep Rating: 3 (Moderate Hazard)
Cost: 200ml for $12.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: As above, I don’t like the phenoxyethanol, the cocoamidopropyl betaine, or the sodium hydroxylmethylglycinate. See my comments above.

Name: Johnson Baby Head To Toe Wash Johnson Baby Head To Toe Bath
Ingredients: Water, PEG- 80 Sorbitan Laurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG- 150 Distearate, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 500ml for $9.89
Comments: Where to start? Perfume, Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), Methylisothiazolinone (MIT), PEG’s and sulfates.

Name: Johnson Pure Baby SoapJohnson Pure Baby Soap
Ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Mineral Oil, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Water, Tetrasodium EDTA, Etidronic Acid.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: 3 (Moderate Hazard)
Cost: 2 x 95g for $2.30
Comments: This bar soap has a reasonably low toxicity rating, but it does contain synthetic fragrance and petrochemicals. Not a terrible choice, but certainly ingredients that you may be trying to avoid.

Name: La Clinica Organic for Baby Soap Free Wash Gel La Clinica Organic for Baby Soap Free Wash Gel
Ingredients: Silica Spring Water, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycerin Lauryl Glucoside, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Coco-Glucoside, Glyeryl Oleate, Glycerine, D-Glucono-1, 5-Lactone, Hydroxylpropyl Guar, Sodium Benzoate, Chamomile (Matricaria Recutita) Extract (Organic), Calendula Officinalis Extract (Organic), Oregon Grape (Berberis Aquifolium) Extract, D-Panthenol, Citric Acid, Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata) Extract, Rose Geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens) Oil, Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia) Oil (Organic), Ylang Ylang (Cananga Odorata) Oil (Organic), Rosehip (Rose Canina) Oil (Organic), Oliva (Olea Europaea) Oil (Organic), Hyaluronic Acid.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $12.00
Comments: Organic for baby? There’s not much organic in this. Ingredients have to be listed from largest to smallest quantities, and it’s a long way down the list before you get to anything organic here. My guess would be that less than 5% of this product is organic, so I’m not impressed. Otherwise, there’s not much to get upset about. It’s a reasonable product.

Name: Little Innoscents Hair & Body Wash Little Innoscents Hair & Body Wash
Ingredients: Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice)*, Kernel Oil (Potassium Oleate)*, Sunflower Oil (Potassium Linoleate)*, Olive Oil (Potassium Cocoate)*, Xanthan Gum, Glycerine, 100% Propriety blend of essential oils, (Parfum), Spearmint (Mentha Viridis Oil), Sweet Orange (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis oil)*, Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia Oil). *Denotes Certified Organic
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $12.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: The only problem with this one is the fragrance, but this is fragrance made from essential oils, so I don’t have a problem with it. The product is ACO certified, and it’s a great brand. One of my faves!

Name: Little Innoscents Organic Goats Milk Soap Bar Little Innoscents Organic Goats Milk Soap Bar
Ingredients: Organic Sodium Palmate*, Organic Sodium Palmkernel*, Aqua (Purified Water), Glycerin*, Sodium Chloride, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga Odorata), Goats Milk, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii)*, Honey (Mel)*, Citric Acid.
*Certified Organic by ACO
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 100g for $3.99
Comments: Another great choice of bar soap. Certified organic, great ingredients.

Name: Miessence Sunflower Body Wash Miessence Sunflower Body Wash

EWG Skin Deep Rating: 1 (Low Hazard)
Cost: 250ml for $18.75 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: Not strictly a baby product, but it’s got great ingredients in it, and it’s certified organic by BFA. Lots to love!

Name: Milk Skincare Baby Bath Time Wash Milk Skincare Baby Bath Time Wash
Ingredients: Water, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Sodium Cocosulphate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Sodium Benzonate, Potassium Sorbate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Lactic Acid, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 375ml for $12.95
Comments: Not too bad, although I’m not super keen on the Cocamidopropyl Betaine.

Name: Moo Goo Natural Mini Moo Bubbly Wash Moo Goo Natural Mini Moo Bubbly Wash
Ingredients: Aqua, Cocomidopropyl Betaine (Coconut Derived Cleanser), Decyl Glucoside (Glucose Derived Cleanser), Coco-Glucoside (Glucose Derived Cleanser), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate (Coconut Derived Cleanser), Glyceryl Oleate (Natural Ester), Oryza Sativa (Colloidal Rice) Bran, Glycol Distearate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride (Guar Gum), Glyceryl Caprylate, Piroctone Olamine, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 500ml for $17.50
Comments: Again with the ‘natural’. The ingredients might be plant derived, but that doesn’t make them natural. Aloe vera is natural, cocomidopropyl betaine and decyl glucoside are not. It’s not a bad product, but it’s not natural, either.

Name: Only Papaya Baby Bath Time Only Papaya Baby Bath Time
Ingredients: Carica Papaya Extract, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Methyl Cocyl Taurate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Hydrolysed Oats, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender Oil), Sorbitol, Phenethyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Silver Citrate, Citric Acid.
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 250ml for $14.95
Comments: This isn’t too bad, except for our old friend Cocamidopropyl Betaine. And it’s great to see that a papaya/pawpaw product actually has lots of papaya in it!

Name: Pineapple Heads Bodywash Pineapple Heads Bodywash
Ingredients: Aqua, Plantapon SF (Ecocert Qualified Surfactant), Coco-Glucoside (Plant Based Surfactant), Glyceryl Oleate (Plant Based Surfactant), Sodium Lauryl Glutamate (Plant Based Surfactant), Glycerine (Vegetable Based), Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Phytofoam (Water, Acacia Concinna Fruit Extract, Balanites Aegyptiaca (Desert Date) Fruit Extract, And Gypsophila Paniculata Root Extract), Proteol APL (Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids), Mango Perfum (Ecocert Approved Natural), Xanthan Gum, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract (Papaya), Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract (Mango)
EWG Skin Deep Rating: n/a
Cost: 375ml for $17.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: This doesn’t actually have a correct ingredients list. The Plantapon should be listed as Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate and Lauryl Glucoside, otherwise you don’t know exactly what the ingredients are. This also has a fragrance added, but it is an EcoCert approved fragrance. I also like the fact that they’re saying that ingredients are plant derived, rather than natural. All in all, this is a pretty good product.

Name: Weleda Calendula Cream Bath Weleda Calendula Cream Bath
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Alcohol, Glycerin, Glyceryl Oleate, Calendula Officinalis Extract, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Sodium Beeswax, Xanthan Gum, Limonene*, Linalool*
* From Natural Essential Oils
EWG Skin Deep Rating:
Cost: 200ml for $23.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: Once again, it’s the perfume that pushes the rating on this up. However, as Weleda doesn’t use phthalates or parabens, I have absolutely no problems in using their products (indeed, I love them!).

Name: Weleda Calendula Soap Weleda Calendula Soap
Ingredients: Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, Water (Aqua), Sodium Olivate, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Glycerin, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Iris Germanica Root Extract, Viola Tricolor Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Malt Extract, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Stearate, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Geraniol*
* From Natural Essential Oils
EWG Skin Deep Rating: 4 (Moderate Hazard)
Cost: 100g for $9.95
Comments: If you’re a regular reader of these cheat sheets, you know my feelings about Weleda. Weleda always scores higher on the EWG database because of the fragrance. But their fragrance is made from essential oils, they don’t use phthalates or parabens, and they have Innovator Status in the EWG Campaign for Safer Cosmetics. The limonene, linalool, citronellol and geraniol that all score high in the EWG Skindeep database are essential oil compounds that have to be declared separately, even though they’re not synthetic and aren’t added separately. I love Weleda products, and am happy to recommend them and use them.

Name: Wotnot Baby Wash Wotnot Baby Wash
Ingredients: aloe vera leaf juice*, decyl glucoside, glycerine*, purified water, xanthan gum, flaxseed oil*, d-alpha tocopherol (certified gmo-free vitamin e), sweet orange oil*, essential oils of rose, chamomile oil*, rose geranium oil*, rice flour*, citric acid, potassium sorbate (food grade preservative) *certified organic ingredients.
EWG Skin Deep Rating:
Cost: 250ml for $14.95 (Buy at Hello Charlie)
Comments: This is a good product that’s got better with each reformulation. It’s certified organic by ACO, and the ingredients are excellent. Another good product from a good brand!

Disclaimer: I’m no scientist, or chemical engineer. I’m a mum, using tools that are available to everyone on the web these days. I do this research for the benefit of my family, and I share this research with you to make life that little bit easier for other busy parents trying to make safer choices from the multitude of products available. Please bear in mind my amateur status as you’re reading this research!

Please also note that there is more to products being safe than their toxicity ratings. Personally, I look for brands that are free from petrochemicals, don’t test on animals, use natural ingredients and are from ethical companies. For example, although the Gaia products that I’ve reviewed have higher toxicity ratings that the Aveeno product, I would choose Gaia every single time because they’re using gentle ingredients and they are making the effort to provide safer baby products rather than just greenwashing. In addition, Gaia is made right here in Melbourne, by a family run company who really are trying to do the right thing.

If you’d like to share this information with other parents, please feel free to do so. However, please bear in mind the time that it takes for me to do this research, and do the right thing by attributing this article back to me here at Hello Charlie. Thanks!
